Biorepository Technician II

Location: Frederick, MD, USA; onsite laboratory work required

What you will do

• Receive, document, organize, and store biological specimens at the appropriate temperatures.
• Perform cryopreservation, aliquoting, frozen sample inventory, labeling, and quality control checks using aseptic technique.
• Reconcile data in BSI, investigate discrepancies, prepare reports, and maintain batch records and specimen documentation.
• Retrieve samples according to requisitions and SOPs, verify outgoing shipments, and investigate missing specimens.
• Package and ship dangerous and non-dangerous goods, confirm receiving-lab details, and complete required shipping paperwork.
• Monitor freezers and room temperatures, respond to alarms, coordinate equipment maintenance, and perform dry-shipper and temporary-inventory checks.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience, plus at least 2 years of relevant work experience.
• Basic laboratory skills and training in aseptic technique.
• Current knowledge of IATA Shipping Regulations and the ability to maintain related certification and standards.
• Comfort using Excel and BSI, with strong attention to detail and documentation skills in a regulated laboratory environment.
• Fluent English reading, writing, speaking, and comprehension required.
• Ability to lift and carry 31–50 pounds, work around freezer temperatures from -20°C to -196°C, and perform prolonged standing, walking, and other physical tasks.
