Senior Product Engineer (Travel)

What you will do

• Lead end-to-end booking projects including discovery, solution design, rollout, and monitoring.
• Streamline and localize checkout flows to improve conversion for global users.
• Build foundational systems for order management, including modifications, transfers, and cancellations.
• Expand tax management capabilities to ensure compliance across multiple jurisdictions.
• Own the reliability and scalability of booking systems to support 10x growth.
• Partner with Product and Customer teams to translate user challenges into robust technical solutions.

Requirements

• 7+ years of product engineering experience, with 4+ years in complex e-commerce, booking, or order management systems.
• Strong backend mastery in Ruby on Rails, Kotlin, Python, Go, Java, or Node.js.
• Full-stack proficiency with React and TypeScript.
• Deep expertise in architecting resilient distributed systems, event-driven architectures, and state machines.
• Direct production on-call experience and ability to lead incident response.
• Pragmatic approach to using AI tools for engineering workflow optimization.

Nice to have

• Experience with tax engines or multi-jurisdiction tax compliance (VAT, GST, sales tax).
• Background in travel-industry reservation systems.
• Experience building marketplace or two-sided platform commerce solutions.
