Principal Applied AI/ML Scientist (Auth0 Lab)

Location: Toronto, Ontario, Canada; hybrid role requiring attendance at the local office twice a week

Salary: CAD 216,000–297,000 annual base salary, plus equity where applicable, bonus, and benefits.

What you will do

• Model and solve authentication and security problems using AI and machine learning.
• Lead end-to-end model development, including training traditional ML models and fine-tuning or aligning small and large language models.
• Create and maintain evaluation and training datasets and workflows.
• Take ideas from research through prototypes to product recommendations.
• Evaluate outcomes across quality, security, latency, and cost.
• Set the technical direction for AI innovation and take new product ideas from 0 to 1.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in machine learning or applied research roles.
• Experience leading multiple 0-to-1 AI or ML projects and shipping practical ML or AI systems.
• Strong Python, machine learning frameworks, and software engineering skills.
• Ability to learn quickly, understand computer systems, and solve complex technical problems.
• Strong customer understanding, communication, collaboration, and iterative problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work in a hybrid arrangement from Toronto, Canada, with office attendance twice per week.

Nice to have

• Experience working on security-related products.
• PhD in a relevant field.
