Principal Engineer – CPS DataValidation Platform (OmniShopper & Homescan)

Location: 5140 Yonge Street, Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Full-time role with collaboration across teams primarily working in the US Eastern Time zone.

Salary: CAD 112,700–CAD 140,000 per year

What you will do

• Own the health, reliability, performance, scalability, and operational excellence of the CPS DataValidation platform.
• Serve as the primary engineering escalation point for production incidents and business-critical issues.
• Lead incident management, root cause analysis, remediation, observability, monitoring, and alerting improvements.
• Define and execute the platform’s technical strategy, roadmap, architecture, and modernization across on-premise and Azure systems.
• Act as engineering lead for strategic OmniShopper initiatives and align DataValidation capabilities with OmniShopper and Homescan requirements.
• Coordinate technical execution, risks, dependencies, prioritization, and stakeholder communication across engineering, data science, PMO, operations, and product teams.

Requirements

• 10+ years of software engineering experience and 5+ years in Staff Engineer, Principal Engineer, Architect, or equivalent technical leadership roles.
• Experience owning mission-critical production systems and enterprise-scale data platforms.
• Strong hands-on experience with Python, Oracle Database, Linux, SQL performance tuning, Azure Data Services, PySpark, Parquet datasets, ETL, and data engineering frameworks.
• Experience with data quality and validation platforms, complex incident resolution, and operational KPIs and SLAs.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, including the ability to influence multiple organizations without direct authority.
• Ability to work effectively with global teams and technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice to have

• Experience in retail measurement, consumer panels, syndicated data, OmniShopper, Homescan, or similar consumer analytics platforms.
• Experience working with Data Science and advanced analytics teams.
• Knowledge of modern data quality, governance, and observability frameworks.
