Legal Operations

Location: San Francisco, CA preferred, or remote in the US/Americas with UTC-3 to UTC-10 overlap. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States; visa sponsorship is not available.

Salary: $140,000–$160,000 per year for US-based employees in San Francisco; compensation is adjusted based on location. Competitive equity is also offered.

What you will do

• Build and maintain contract management, legal operations, and compliance systems.
• Own the legal technology stack, including CLM, e-billing, and matter management tools.
• Design contract intake and routing from initial request through signature.
• Standardize, automate, or eliminate repetitive legal work using technology and AI.
• Manage outside counsel and legal vendor relationships, including billing, budgets, and engagement terms.
• Track legal spend, contract volume, and turnaround times while supporting research, regulatory monitoring, and special projects.

Requirements

• Demonstrated ability to own complex projects independently and drive them to completion.
• Experience building or substantially improving processes and turning ambiguous requests into workable systems.
• Exceptional organization, follow-through, written communication, and verbal communication skills.
• Strong judgment and discretion when handling confidential information.
• Ability to learn new tools quickly and genuine curiosity about legal, business, and technology decisions.
• AI must be used as a default productivity tool, with the judgment to review high volumes of AI-generated output and avoid shipping inaccurate work.

Nice to have

• Background in legal operations, contracts, compliance, business operations, consulting, technology, or professional services.
• Experience supporting commercial contracting, regulatory matters, product, finance, sales, engineering, HR, or security workflows.
• A law degree is not required and is neither expected nor preferred.
