Manufacturing Engineer (Ceramic Matrix Composites)

Location: Torrance, CA, United States; hands-on work on the production floor.

What you will do

• Own the manufacturing implementation and scale-up of materials manufacturing processes for Ceramic Matrix Composite production.
• Translate material and process requirements into repeatable manufacturing methods in partnership with Materials Engineering.
• Define equipment requirements and support design reviews, commissioning, qualification, and production readiness.
• Develop work instructions, process controls, production documentation, and technician training.
• Troubleshoot production issues and improve process capability, yield, throughput, cycle time, capacity, and equipment utilization.
• Support process validation, root-cause investigations, corrective actions, and continuous improvement with technicians and engineers.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Materials, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
• At least 3 years of manufacturing or process engineering experience.
• Experience developing, improving, or scaling manufacturing processes.
• Hands-on experience with manufacturing equipment and production troubleshooting.
• Ability to translate technical requirements into practical manufacturing processes.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and cross-functional communication skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with composites, ceramics, Ceramic Matrix Composites, carbon/carbon, or other advanced materials manufacturing.
• Experience transitioning processes from development into production.
• Experience with custom manufacturing equipment development, commissioning, or qualification.
• Familiarity with industrial controls, sensors, automation, manufacturing data acquisition, process capability, DOE, or SPC.
• Aerospace, defense, semiconductor, or other high-reliability manufacturing experience.
