Lead Engineer - IT (Java/React)

Location: Chennai, India. The role requires overlapping working hours with US East Coast teams as needed.

What you will do

• Design and deliver end-to-end full-stack solutions across frontend and backend systems.
• Build scalable, secure RESTful APIs, microservices, and backend services.
• Develop high-performance React and Next.js applications, including server-side rendered and SEO-friendly web experiences.
• Design and implement CI/CD pipelines, cloud-enabled deployments, and production support across Dev, QA, UAT, and Production environments.
• Review pull requests, mentor engineers, and promote coding standards, architectural guidelines, scalability, and best practices.
• Lead AI-assisted development and test automation practices while evaluating new technologies and frameworks.

Requirements

• At least 8 years of engineering experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with Java, preferably Spring Boot, React, Next.js, SSR, SSG, and API-driven development.
• Experience with AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, DevOps, Git, observability tools, and SQL/NoSQL databases.
• Knowledge of authentication and authorization using OAuth, JWT, or SSO, plus secure, scalable, and highly available architecture.
• Experience with design patterns and architectural approaches including MVC, MVVM, layered, microservices, and event-driven architecture.
• Ability to work from Chennai and overlap with US East Coast time zones when required.

Nice to have

• Experience in the US insurance domain, including group benefits, billing, claims, or enrollment.
• Familiarity with MetLife, Sun Life, or similar insurer platforms and processes.
• Understanding of regulatory, compliance, and customer experience requirements in insurance systems.
