Firmware Engineer (f/m/d) for Embedded / Automotive / ASIP RISC-V

Location: Germering, Germany; onsite position with no remote work available

What you will do

• Design, implement, and validate firmware for deeply embedded ASIP RISC-V-based microcontrollers and DSPs.
• Contribute to the definition, customization, and optimization of application-specific processor architectures.
• Define firmware requirements and architecture in collaboration with system architects, product definition, and hardware development teams.
• Develop unit tests, integration tests, validation strategies, toolchains, simulation environments, and debug workflows.
• Analyze and optimize performance in memory-constrained, real-time environments.
• Ensure implementation compliance with ISO 26262 functional safety requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
• Strong expertise in embedded C programming in bare-metal environments and Assembler.
• Experience with compilers, debuggers, linkers, simulators, emulators, static analysis, and testing tools.
• Understanding of memory-constrained and real-time systems, register-level hardware interaction, and CPU architecture principles.
• Experience with signal-processing fundamentals such as FIR/IIR filters and ADC data handling.
• Professional working proficiency in English, written and spoken, is required.

Nice to have

• Experience with Python or similar scripting languages for test automation and tooling.
• Knowledge of ASPICE and ISO 26262 software development processes.
