Test Engineer (Power Electronics)

What you will do

• Develop and execute validation plans, test procedures, qualification reports, and design verification activities for 11kW–300kW variable speed drives.
• Test power electronics hardware, embedded firmware, motor control performance, and three-phase power systems.
• Perform functional, electrical, thermal, environmental, reliability, power quality, harmonics, and EMC testing.
• Analyze test data, identify failure root causes, and drive corrective actions with engineering teams, suppliers, and external design partners.
• Coordinate UL, CE, VDE, and other certification activities with test laboratories and regulatory agencies.
• Support supplier qualification, FMEA, design reviews, product risk assessments, field investigations, and technical documentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, Electronic Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 5–7 years of experience with electronics or industrial automation products; 7+ years of power electronics and variable speed drive qualification experience is preferred.
• Experience testing and qualifying electronics hardware and embedded firmware for performance, reliability, and regulatory compliance.
• Knowledge of electronics, three-phase power systems, protection, and safety circuits.
• Hands-on experience with oscilloscopes, power analyzers, high-voltage differential probes, current probes, thermal imaging equipment, and environmental chambers.
• Ability to interpret international safety and regulatory standards, troubleshoot failures, perform root cause analysis, and coordinate cross-functional projects.

Nice to have

• Experience with industrial variable speed drives, high-speed motor drives, HVAC systems, compressor drives, or oil-free compressor technologies.
• Knowledge of UL 61800-5-1, IEC 61800, IEC 61000 EMC, and IEEE 519 harmonics standards.
• Experience with EMI/EMC mitigation, Active Front End drives, and regenerative drive systems.
• Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, Controls Engineering, or a related field.
• Technical project management experience and the ability to lead cross-functional validation activities.
