Software Engineer Integration & Automation (Robotics)

Location: Nänikon, Canton of Zurich, Switzerland; hybrid work model. The role may include occasional short business trips within Europe.

What you will do

• Develop, maintain, and enhance laboratory software for system integration, automation, and connectivity, including LabX API-based products.
• Design and improve laboratory automation and robotics solutions using platforms such as ABB RobotStudio and RAPID.
• Own robotic cells used for demonstrations, technical feasibility studies, and new use cases.
• Collaborate with software teams, business stakeholders, integration partners, and vendors worldwide.
• Provide technical consulting and engineering support while ensuring testing, documentation, deployment, and secure development practices.
• Support advanced robotics environments, AI-enabled laboratory automation, simulation environments, and customer demonstrations across Europe.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Automation Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Several years of professional software development experience, ideally in software engineering and system integration.
• Strong object-oriented programming skills, preferably with .NET/C#, plus web programming and Python.
• Knowledge of source control, code reviews, coding standards, automated testing, and CI/CD.
• Familiarity with REST/SOAP APIs, OPC UA, XML/JSON, cloud technologies, Docker, Kubernetes, Windows services, and authentication technologies.
• Fluent English is required; German is a plus. Occasional short travel within Europe is expected.

Nice to have

• Experience with ABB RobotStudio, RAPID programming, or ABB OmniCore systems.
• Interest in AI-assisted development tools, MCP, and agent-based workflows.
• German language skills.
