Base Capital Projects Engineering Intern (Power Generation) (Engineering/Project Management): Supporting capital project planning and execution at combined-cycle power plants with an accent on plant systems, engineering drawings, and project budgeting. Focus on assisting project engineers, learning power generation equipment and subsystems, and coordinating practical work across plant engineering and operations.

Location: Minneapolis, St. Paul, or Burnsville, Minnesota, United States; in-person commuting between designated power plant locations is required under the hybrid work policy.

Salary: $23.10–$24.60 per hour

What you will do

  • Assist project engineers with capital project management and execution at combined-cycle power plants.
  • Learn how power plants generate electricity and how their major equipment systems and subsystems operate.
  • Read and use piping and instrumentation diagrams, electrical schematics, and plant drawings.
  • Use project planning and budgeting systems.
  • Work with engineering, operations, and plant management to support department objectives.

Requirements

  • Current college or university student at junior level or higher.
  • Enrolled in an ABET-accredited program pursuing electrical, mechanical, civil, chemical engineering, or a related degree.
  • Reliable transportation between plants in the Minneapolis–St. Paul metropolitan area.
  • Ability to work in person at the designated location; full-time during the summer, up to 40 hours per week, and part-time during the school year, up to 20 hours per week.
  • Availability to start on May 24, 2027.

Nice to have

  • GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
  • At least two years of undergraduate coursework, including thermodynamics and fluid mechanics.
  • Previous engineering internship experience.
