Dam Safety Engineer Intern (WI)

Location: Eau Claire, Wisconsin, with in-person commuting under a hybrid work policy and travel to hydroelectric facilities throughout northwestern Wisconsin at least 25% of the time

Salary: $21.20–$24.60 per hour

What you will do

• Support dam safety inspections alongside Operations and regulatory agencies.
• Participate in risk evaluations and help prioritize dam safety work.
• Observe construction activities and review plans and specifications for hydroelectric dam safety projects.
• Assist with emergency action planning and technical report preparation and review.
• Learn the design features, history, and federal requirements of hydroelectric facilities.

Requirements

• Current sophomore-level student or higher enrolled in an ABET-accredited college or university.
• Pursuing a degree in Civil Engineering.
• Ability to travel to hydroelectric facilities at least 25% of the time.
• Ability to work in person at the designated Eau Claire location, full-time during the summer up to 40 hours per week and part-time during the school year up to 20 hours per week.
• Effective verbal and technical writing communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Nice to have

• Interest in dam engineering and hydropower.
• Coursework in engineering statics, engineering mechanics, soil mechanics, hydraulics and hydrology, and structural analysis and design.
