TL;DR
State and Local Tax - Income Franchise Intern - Winter 2027 (State and Local Tax/Accounting): Supporting state and local tax planning, research, compliance analysis, and software implementation for client engagements with an accent on tax regulations, purchasing and sales data, and process improvement. Focus on reviewing tax processes, identifying inefficiencies, analyzing audit and refund opportunities, and assisting with sales/use tax software implementations.
Location: Irvine, United States; travel to assigned client locations is required
Salary: $36–$43 per hour

What you will do
- Support state and local tax services for clients across multiple engagements.
- Complete tax planning and research tasks while developing knowledge of tax regulations and accounting pronouncements.
- Review client tax processes, identify inefficiencies, and recommend improvements that reduce tax exposure.
- Work with client IT personnel to obtain historical purchasing and sales data for reporting, audits, refunds, and credits.
- Assist with evaluating and implementing sales and use tax software systems.
Requirements
- At least 90 completed credit hours.
- Currently pursuing a B.A., B.S., or equivalent degree at an accredited university.
- Accounting major.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to travel to assigned client locations and arrange reliable transportation.
- Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Excel proficiency.
