Jewellery Design Instructor (Sessional Faculty)

Location: LaSalle College Vancouver, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada; on-campus presence and regular office hours required.

What you will do

• Teach between one and five jewellery design course sections per term using student-centred and flexible teaching approaches.
• Plan and deliver lectures, labs, studios, presentations, assignments, rubrics, and other course materials.
• Mentor students, advise them on educational goals, provide feedback, and evaluate their learning.
• Manage attendance, grades, academic records, accommodations, and other college administrative requirements.
• Participate in faculty meetings, program reviews, classroom observations, community engagement, and quality assurance activities.
• Maintain professional knowledge and incorporate relevant industry practices and trends into teaching.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in design or a related discipline, such as jewellery, fashion, graphic, or interior design.
• At least three years of related and progressively responsible academic or industry experience.
• Excellent computer literacy, including Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe InDesign, and Microsoft Office 365.
• Strong communication, presentation, problem-solving, analytical, organizational, leadership, and conflict-resolution skills.
• Ability to support diverse students, collaborate with faculty and administrators, maintain confidentiality, and meet recurring deadlines.
• International academic credentials require a WES assessment or equivalent evaluation before the official hiring date; related costs are the candidate’s responsibility.

Nice to have

• Teacher training or an advanced certification.
• Experience with sustainable design.
• Professional memberships, certifications, industry practice, or continuing education in the discipline.
