Fashion Design Instructor (Sessional Faculty)

Location: LaSalle College Vancouver, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada; regular campus presence and office hours required

What you will do

• Teach between one and five fashion design course sections each term using student-centred teaching methods.
• Plan and deliver lectures, studios, labs, presentations, assignments, rubrics, and other course materials.
• Mentor students, advise them on their educational goals, provide feedback, and evaluate learning outcomes.
• Maintain attendance, grades, student records, office hours, and other academic administration.
• Participate in faculty meetings, program reviews, classroom observations, and community engagement activities.
• Contribute to curriculum development, quality assurance, regulatory compliance, and professional development.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in design or a related discipline, such as fashion, graphic, interior, or jewellery design.
• At least three years of related and increasingly responsible academic or industry experience.
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud, especially Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign, as well as Microsoft Office 365.
• Strong communication, presentation, problem-solving, analytical, organizational, leadership, and conflict-resolution skills.
• Ability to work with diverse students and stakeholders, manage deadlines, maintain confidentiality, and support inclusive learning environments.
• International academic credentials require a completed WES assessment or equivalent evaluation before the official hiring date; associated costs are the candidate’s responsibility.

Nice to have

• Educational or teacher training, or an advanced certification.
• Sustainable Design Ambassador experience or credentials.
• Professional memberships, conference participation, current industry practice, or other continuing education.
