Product Engineer – Electrical/Electronic | Exterior Lighting (Automotive)

Location: Hybrid, with four days per week in the office. Travel to supplier manufacturing and testing sites and North American manufacturing plants may be required.

What you will do

• Lead the design, development, integration, validation, and launch of automotive exterior lighting systems, including headlamps, taillamps, CHMSL, fog lamps, and license plate lamps.
• Coordinate mechanical, electrical, software, systems, and optical engineering activities at the vehicle level.
• Develop and validate embedded C/C++ functionality for LIN/CAN integration, diagnostics, thermal foldback, and lighting animations.
• Develop electrical schematics, layout recommendations, LED driver and power regulation concepts, EMC filtering, and system documentation.
• Perform system testing, thermal FEA, circuit worst-case analysis, electrical stress testing, validation planning, and durability analysis.
• Manage suppliers, technical reviews, sourcing activities, design releases, root-cause investigations, and corrective actions.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience designing, developing, or launching automotive lighting or similar components.
• Experience with automotive electronics software development, software testing, and CAN-based system testing.
• Experience managing supplier deliverables, hardware/software interfaces, system delivery, and interface points.
• Experience with CATIA, 3DX, Teamcenter, CAE tools, benchmarking, and CAD studies.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally and work effectively in a fluid engineering environment.

Nice to have

• Master of Science in Engineering, preferably Electrical Engineering, and 7+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience designing and releasing exterior lighting, with software literacy and mechatronics expertise.
• Knowledge of DFMEAs, PFMEAs, SCCAFs, 8D, 5Why, statistical analysis, materials, manufacturing technologies, and GD&T.
