Backend Infrastructure Engineer

Location: On-site in Berlin, Germany, five days per week; remote work is not available

Salary: €80,000–€120,000 annually

What you will do

• Design modular infrastructure that makes complex systems maintainable and extensible at scale.
• Scale backend services for an energy platform serving OEMs, installers, and end consumers.
• Build and ship production code from system design through deployment.
• Develop billing, accounting-ledger, and energy-market integration capabilities.
• Raise engineering standards through code reviews and architecture decisions.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of hands-on experience building and shipping reliable backend infrastructure in production.
• Proficiency in TypeScript and Node.js, including asynchronous programming patterns.
• Experience with PostgreSQL and ORM-based data access such as Drizzle.
• Experience building backend services with Next.js, including API routes or server components.
• Knowledge of distributed systems and scalable, maintainable service design.
• Experience integrating payment systems such as Stripe and handling complex billing flows.
