cGMP HVAC Mechanic

Location: Onsite at 7116 Geoffrey Way, Frederick, Maryland, USA. Work hours are 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with emergency on-call availability required.

Salary: $65,500–$96,407 per year.

What you will do

• Install, service, rebuild, inspect, and repair commercial and industrial air-conditioning and refrigeration systems.
• Perform preventive maintenance and troubleshoot compressors, evaporators, condensers, pumps, fans, motors, valves, controls, and heating-water systems.
• Operate and maintain chilled-water loops, process glycol refrigeration systems, air handlers, exhaust fans, reheat coils, and hot-water distribution equipment.
• Service Building Automation Systems and adjust setpoints or replace components as required.
• Maintain cleanroom HVAC systems controlling temperature, humidity, pressure, filtration, and airflow in accordance with cGMP procedures and documentation standards.
• Support maintenance of biosafety cabinets, CO₂ incubators, CIP/SIP systems, plumbing, and other facility equipment.

Requirements

• High school diploma and at least two years of HVAC-related experience.
• Experience with chilled-water distribution, heating-water systems, high-tonnage air-conditioning, refrigeration compressors, and process glycol systems.
• Experience with Building Automation Systems, including automation servers and associated peripherals.
• Current EPA Section 608 Universal Certification and ability to read HVAC blueprints and schematics.
• Ability to work in confined spaces, wear PPE, handle physical demands including lifting over 50 pounds, and enter laboratory or hazardous areas.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, complete required medical clearance and immunizations, and undergo random drug testing.

Nice to have

• Formal HVAC apprenticeship or equivalent technical training and at least five years of relevant experience.
• Maryland HVAC Journeyman License.
• Experience with cGMP, pharmaceutical manufacturing, clean and dirty utilities, steam boilers, plumbing, and industrial chiller plants.
• Confined space certification.
