What you will do

  • Evaluate the suitability and quality of research assays and independently perform quality control.
  • Develop new assays, automated workflows, and production methodologies.
  • Validate the reliability of biomedical research methods and instrumentation.
  • Prepare and execute research plans, proposals, and experimental procedures.
  • Analyze and report experimental results while working independently in a research laboratory.
  • Maintain current knowledge through scientific literature and presentations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or four years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree; foreign degrees must be evaluated for U.S. equivalency.
  • At least two years of progressively responsible laboratory research experience.
  • Working knowledge of biomedical engineering, biomedical image processing, laboratory techniques, and standard biomedical laboratory equipment.
  • Experience developing automated mechanical or computational workflows, using rapid prototyping or computer-aided design, and performing routine quality control.
  • Ability to analyze and report experimental results, use Microsoft Office applications, and obtain and maintain a security clearance.
  • Medical clearance and immunizations are required because the position may involve exposure to infectious materials.

Nice to have

  • Developing proficiency in biomedical microscopy, digital image analysis, scientific computing for instrument control or data analysis, biomaterials manufacturing, biomedical device design and prototyping, cell-based or molecular assays, biomedical optics, or bioprinting.
  • Competency across at least three of the listed technical areas.
