Engineer I (Biotech Manufacturing)

Location: US - California - Thousand Oaks; onsite support required, including flexibility for 24/7 operations, weekend shifts, after-hours coverage, and on-call rotation.

Salary: $88,281–$119,439 per year.

What you will do

• Support manufacturing processes, equipment reliability, operational optimization, troubleshooting, and performance improvements at the Thousand Oaks Pilot Plant.
• Identify system risks and implement reliability, cycle-time, efficiency, yield, and obsolescence-reduction initiatives.
• Conduct technical investigations, root cause analyses, equipment troubleshooting, and data-driven engineering assessments using methods such as Statistical Process Control and Six Sigma.
• Support new product and technology introductions, equipment modifications, engineering runs, startup, commissioning, and validation.
• Translate user and process requirements into engineering documentation and support the design, specification, installation, and implementation of process equipment and systems.
• Present project results, collaborate with cross-functional teams, escalate issues, and support environmental health and safety practices.

Requirements

• Master’s degree and 2 years of engineering experience; or bachelor’s degree and 4 years; or associate’s degree and 6 years; or high school diploma/GED and 8 years.
• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Bioengineering is preferred.
• Experience with complex manufacturing process equipment, equipment engineering, troubleshooting, reliability improvement, and design optimization.
• Knowledge of regulated pharmaceutical or biotech production environments, including cGMP, FDA, OSHA, EPA, corrective and preventative actions, commissioning, and validation practices.
• Experience with process equipment such as cleaning systems, centrifuges, chromatography systems, or filtration systems, plus Maximo or an equivalent asset management system.
• Strong engineering, technical writing, communication, presentation, organization, collaboration, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to support 24/7 operations.
