Principal Engineer (EDA Infrastructure)

Location: San Jose, CA, United States

Base pay: $230,732.01 annually, with potential variable or incentive compensation and equity.

What you will do

• Define the vision, roadmap, and strategy for CAD and EDA infrastructure supporting ASIC, SoC, IP, and verification teams.
• Design, deploy, and maintain scalable and secure engineering environments, including cloud-enabled and hybrid compute platforms.
• Optimize RTL-to-GDSII flows across synthesis, place-and-route, STA, DFT, verification, emulation, and signoff.
• Evaluate and support EDA tools from Synopsys, Cadence, Siemens/Mentor, and other vendors.
• Build automation, self-service platforms, dashboards, and CI/CD workflows to improve tool reliability and engineering productivity.
• Architect Linux-based compute farms, distributed job scheduling, storage, networking, HPC clusters, cloud resources, and license infrastructure.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
• At least 12 years of experience in semiconductor design methodologies, CAD engineering, or EDA infrastructure.
• Deep understanding of ASIC/SoC design and verification flows.
• Strong expertise in Linux/Unix environments and distributed computing systems.
• Hands-on experience with Synopsys and Cadence EDA platforms.
• Advanced programming and automation skills in Python, Tcl, Shell, or similar languages, plus experience managing compute farms, license servers, storage systems, and enterprise infrastructure.
• Successful background and reference checks and satisfactory proof of the right to work in the United States are required.
