Research Engineer, Android Security

Location: 665 Clyde Avenue, Mountain View, CA, USA; office-based position

Salary: $163,600–$224,600 USD annually, plus annual bonus eligibility and benefits.

What you will do

• Propose novel security features and vulnerability analysis tools for Samsung smartphones.
• Research, design, and architect security features for mobile products.
• Collaborate with product management teams to refine proposals and align stakeholders.
• Provide security guidance to global development teams and ensure security requirements are met throughout development.
• Review code, promote secure coding practices, and monitor mobile security threats and vulnerability reports.
• Apply AI to security workflows and research, including patents and publications.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of related experience, or a master’s degree with 3+ years of experience, a PhD, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
• Demonstrated computer security experience through academic or industry work, publications, vulnerability disclosures such as CVEs, or security analysis tools.
• Holistic understanding of the Android or mobile software stack, with deep knowledge of Android framework security, access controls, and internals.
• Knowledge of smartphone threats including advanced malware, ransomware, and spyware.
• Knowledge of cryptography, secure coding, exploit mitigations, and applying AI to security workflows and research.
