Cybersecurity Engineer (Active Security Clearance)

Location: Remote within the United States, excluding North Dakota, Vermont, and Rhode Island; Carlsbad, California also listed

Salary: $117,000–$185,000 annually. For specific work locations in San Jose, the San Francisco Bay Area, and the New York City metropolitan area: $145,000–$218,000 annually.

What you will do

• Perform continuous security assessments and vulnerability scanning for network systems under NIST Risk Management Framework practices.
• Administer and configure vulnerability scanning applications, preferably Tenable Nessus, and develop automation for scanning and reporting.
• Analyze scan results, report findings, and coordinate remediation with system owners and stakeholders.
• Maintain vulnerability, remediation, asset inventory, hardware, software, and ports, protocols, and services documentation.
• Collaborate with Information Assurance, network engineering, and security operations center teams to maintain network security visibility.

Requirements

• 3+ years of experience in cybersecurity engineering, information assurance, secure systems or network administration, or a similar discipline.
• Bachelor’s degree in cybersecurity or a related engineering field, or equivalent experience.
• In-depth knowledge of vulnerability scanning applications and common security vulnerabilities.
• Strong understanding of IP networking, secure communication protocols, and router, switch, and firewall configuration.
• Familiarity with NIST RMF continuous monitoring activities and endpoint detection and response technologies.
• US citizenship and an active United States Secret Clearance are required. Ability to travel up to 10% is required.

Nice to have

• CCNA or similar certification.
• CISSP or similar certification.
• Strong independent work ethic, communication, prioritization, and interpersonal skills.
• Experience working effectively with ambiguity and geographically distributed teams.
