What you will do

• Bring up new avionics PCBA prototypes across the full SMT production line.
• Review PCB designs for manufacturability and provide DFM feedback before builds.
• Program and optimize solder paste printers, pick-and-place equipment, and reflow ovens.
• Perform visual, AOI, and X-ray inspections; troubleshoot bridging, tombstoning, voiding, and other defects.
• Build, solder, rework, and qualify prototype hardware, including component replacement, fine-pitch repairs, and BGA rework.
• Develop process documentation, machine-programming automation, data-collection pipelines, and analysis workflows.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent hands-on experience.
• 5–8 years of hands-on PCBA assembly experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency with SMT equipment, including solder paste printers, pick-and-place machines, and reflow ovens.
• Professional-grade soldering and rework skills, including fine-pitch soldering and BGA rework.
• Strong knowledge of SMT processes, common defects, visual inspection, AOI, and X-ray inspection.
• Ability to read PCB assembly drawings, schematics, and datasheets and develop automation tools or scripts for data collection and analysis.

Nice to have

• IPC-A-610 (CIS) or IPC-J-STD-001 soldering certification.
• Prototype or low-to-mid-volume PCBA manufacturing experience and familiarity with AS9100 or IPC Class 3 requirements.
• Python, JavaScript, or SQL experience, including MES, Jira API, database, or manufacturing-equipment integrations.
• Experience applying AI/ML or agentic workflows in manufacturing.
• Knowledge of selective soldering, conformal coating, potting, ESD control, moisture sensitivity, component traceability, Altium, or Valor NPI.
