Senior Staff Engineer, Systems Integration (C++)

Location: On-site in San Diego, California, or Washington, DC, United States

Salary: $183,600–$275,400 per year, plus bonus, benefits, and equity for full-time regular employees.

What you will do

• Design, implement, and maintain cross-platform C++ and Python software.
• Contribute to system architecture with emphasis on performance, maintainability, and integration.
• Develop APIs and messaging interfaces using technologies such as gRPC, REST, and ZeroMQ.
• Integrate third-party software and hardware, including real-time and simulation systems.
• Debug distributed systems involving threading, timing, and data flow.
• Improve CI/CD workflows and automated testing using GitLab CI, Docker, CMake, and Conan.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree, or an equivalent combination of advanced education and experience.
• Strong proficiency in modern C++ and ability to work with legacy C++98/03 codebases.
• Professional experience with Linux/Unix, system-level development, and debugging tools.
• Experience with Python, CI/CD, test automation, Docker, and system-level engineering.
• Active SECRET security clearance and ability to satisfy cleared-background requirements.

Nice to have

• Experience with distributed simulation environments such as AFSIM or NGTS.
• Knowledge of UCI, OMS, avionics data buses, and aircraft interface protocols.
• Experience with networking, messaging infrastructure, real-time systems, and hardware/software integration.
• Ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance.
