Platform Engineer

What you will do

• Design, prototype, develop, and implement solutions that enhance the Kubernetes platform.
• Use Helm, Argo CD, GitLab, Harbor, and GitOps principles to improve platform capabilities.
• Automate operational processes through Infrastructure-as-Code and CI/CD while reducing technical debt.
• Improve platform security, scalability, reliability, monitoring, alerting, and maintenance.
• Identify bottlenecks and optimize deployment performance for growing organizational demands.
• Collaborate with development teams and provide progress reports and technical guidance to NASIC leadership and product owners.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field and 5+ years of relevant work experience.
• Active TS/SCI security clearance required.
• Strong communication, collaboration, problem-solving, independent ownership, and learning skills.
• Basic understanding of software development practices.
• Ability to work with cloud-based application deployments in connected and air-gapped environments.

Nice to have

• IAT Level II certification, such as CompTIA Security+, or higher.
• Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or Certified Kubernetes Application Developer (CKAD) certification.
• Experience with Kubernetes, Docker or Podman, Linux, Helm, GitOps, CI/CD, Terraform, and Infrastructure-as-Code.
• Experience with Argo, Backstage, Coder, Harbor, Grafana, Prometheus, Velero, and VictoriaMetrics.
• Knowledge of security, auditing, identity, and access management principles.
