Staff Software Engineer - Networking

Location: Hybrid, based in Sunnyvale, California or Austin, Texas. Candidates living within a 50-mile radius of an office location must report onsite at least three times per week. The role may be eligible for relocation benefits.

Salary: $172,000–$300,000 annually, plus bonus potential.

What you will do

• Design, build, test, deploy, and operate production network services and automation in Go and Python.
• Develop APIs, controllers, integrations, and Infrastructure as Code modules for network provisioning, configuration, validation, and lifecycle management.
• Build secure, scalable hybrid connectivity between on-premises data centers, validation facilities, and Google Cloud Platform.
• Optimize high-throughput, low-latency data paths for sensor ingestion, validation environments, and hardware-in-the-loop simulations.
• Implement observability, SLOs, incident response, capacity planning, and safeguards that improve reliability and reduce operational toil.
• Provide technical leadership on complex projects and mentor engineers while remaining a hands-on contributor.

Requirements

• 6+ years of relevant software, networking, or SRE experience preferred.
• Production software development and operations experience with Go, Python, or comparable modern programming languages.
• Strong knowledge of distributed systems, APIs, concurrency, automated testing, CI/CD, debugging, Linux, and production operations.
• Strong networking fundamentals, including routing, switching, TCP/IP, DNS, data center networking, and BGP.
• Hands-on experience with GCP networking, Terraform or Ansible, Kubernetes, and continuous or GitOps-based delivery workflows.
• Experience with on-call support and incident response; a related bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience is preferred.

Nice to have

• Experience with large-scale networks, SRE practices, high-throughput data systems, EVPN, or VXLAN.
• Professional networking or cloud certification.
• Observability experience with Prometheus, Grafana, Telegraf, or centralized logging platforms.
