Software Engineer IV, Datastore

hirify.global develops at-home EEG and cardiopulmonary monitoring platforms for precision medicine, neurological and psychiatric therapeutics, sleep disorders, and clinical diagnostics.

What you will do

• Lead the design and architecture of complex systems within the Datastore platform.
• Design and scale PostgreSQL data models, Kafka-driven event pipelines, and GraphQL APIs for clinical and scientific data.
• Own pipelines that deliver dataset snapshots into the data warehouse.
• Translate requirements from product, scientific, clinical, platform, and application stakeholders into integrations, services, and APIs.
• Debug and profile cross-system problems while improving structure, test coverage, tooling, documentation, and operational robustness.
• Draft RFCs, guide technical decisions, mentor engineers, and contribute to team planning and engineering practices.

Requirements

• 7+ years of backend development experience, including at least 3 years working with data platforms and backend infrastructure.
• Strong expertise in data modeling, distributed systems, API design, or database engineering.
• Production experience with PostgreSQL and strong SQL skills, including query tuning, schema design, indexes, and query plans.
• Hands-on experience with Kafka or an equivalent event-streaming technology such as RabbitMQ, Pulsar, or Amazon Kinesis.
• Proficiency in Julia or Python, plus experience with GraphQL and TypeScript/JavaScript with Node.js.
• Experience operating containerized services, with familiarity with Kubernetes and Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or Helm.

Nice to have

• Experience with Julia; willingness to learn it is also welcomed.
• Experience using LLM-assisted or agentic coding tools in production.
