Wilton Factory Optics Fabrication Technician (Optics Fabrication)

Location: Wilton, Connecticut, United States; onsite at the Wilton factory. Work schedule: 6:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m., Thursday–Saturday, every other Wednesday.

What you will do

• Fabricate optical components through CNC machining, grinding, polishing, coating, precision alignment, assembly, and metrology.
• Operate and monitor optical processing equipment while following processing standards and work instructions.
• Handle delicate optical components and inspect glass surfaces for minute defects, particles, contaminants, and abnormal characteristics.
• Record production activity, delays, quality issues, time, and attendance in shop-floor control systems.
• Maintain tooling, equipment, and work areas according to 5S standards and factory schedules.
• Identify safety and quality concerns and contribute to continuous improvement with production engineering and manufacturing management.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Experience in a manufacturing facility or completion of vocational certification is preferred.
• Ability to read gauges, interpret mathematical and geometrical data, and document problems using facts and data.
• Experience with measuring equipment such as microscopes, calipers, micrometers, CMMs, or interferometers is desirable.
• Ability to lift 35 pounds and handle optical components with precision and care.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship and legally authorized to access controlled technology.
