Senior Analytics Engineer (Fintech)

Location: London, United Kingdom; hybrid working with at least two days per week or 40% of working time at an office site

What you will do

• Design and develop production-grade ELT pipelines using dbt and BigQuery.
• Build and maintain complex, business-critical data models across payments, credit, and growth.
• Establish best practices for data modelling, testing, CI/CD, data quality, and performance optimisation.
• Work with Data Engineering, BI Engineering, and business stakeholders to deliver reliable, accessible, and cost-efficient data products.
• Mentor analytics engineers and help shape engineering standards for the data function.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in analytics engineering, data engineering, or a related discipline.
• Deep hands-on expertise with dbt and expert-level SQL skills.
• Strong BigQuery experience, including incremental models, partitioning, and cost optimisation.
• Experience designing complex data models from requirements through production.
• Experience with engineering standards, testing strategies, CI/CD, data quality controls, monitoring, Git, and version control.
• Ability to work with business stakeholders, translate requirements into scalable data solutions, and mentor other engineers.

Nice to have

• Knowledge of Airflow or Composer and familiarity with Google Cloud Platform.
• Experience with real-time or streaming data pipelines.
• Knowledge of Terraform, Kubernetes, or other container orchestration platforms.
• Experience in fintech, financial services, payments, or retail banking.
• Exposure to Looker or similar BI reporting platforms.
