Environmental Sustainability Summer Intern 2027

Location: Fort Worth, Texas, United States. Full-time office-based role with the option to work remotely one day per week. Relocation is required when located more than 50 miles from Fort Worth.

Monthly salary: $5,250.

What you will do

• Support the Environmental & Sustainability team in protecting the environment, complying with environmental laws, and reducing operational risk.
• Collaborate with subject-matter experts to understand and advise on sustainability strategy.
• Develop strategies for managing Scope 3 emissions in annual greenhouse-gas emissions reporting.
• Benchmark sustainability initiatives and develop strategies supporting customer growth.
• Collaborate with the advanced energy innovation team on projects involving next-generation locomotives, charging, facility electrification, and other future technologies.
• Work with the commercial team and leverage technology to deliver value through sustainability initiatives.

Requirements

• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship assistance.
• Be at least 18 years old upon hire and have access to reliable transportation.
• Pursue a bachelor's or graduate degree in natural science, engineering, sustainability, environmental science, biology, chemistry, or a related field.
• Maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 2.75.
• Have fewer than three years of professional or military experience, excluding internships, part-time jobs, and positions held while pursuing a degree.
• Demonstrate leadership, teamwork, clear communication, adaptability, and resilience.

Nice to have

• Internship or relevant work experience in science, engineering, sustainability, environmental studies, or a related field.
• Leadership experience in a campus, community, or extracurricular organization.
