Location: Redlands, California or Springfield, Missouri; candidates must be willing to relocate anywhere across the operating system in the western United States and travel up to 75% of the time. The role includes a two-day orientation in Fort Worth, Texas and work in indoor/outdoor field environments with nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call coverage.

What you will do
- Inspect, maintain, repair, and construct wayside signals, highway grade crossings, signal bungalows, and related infrastructure.
- Plan and schedule maintenance and repairs, then verify the quality of completed work.
- Support expansion and modernization of railway infrastructure, terminals, hubs, central lines, and facilities.
- Oversee projects involving BNSF property, public works, utility crossings, and structure repair or replacement.
- Manage project finances, schedules, stakeholder communication, and team safety.
- Shadow signal supervisors, maintainers, construction supervisors, managers, and directors to gain practical field experience.
Requirements
- Legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship, including H-1B, STEM OPT/CPT, or TN status.
- Willingness to relocate anywhere across the operating system for the summer and travel up to 75%.
- Pursuing a bachelor's or graduate degree in engineering, construction management, business, or a similar program at an accredited university.
- At least a 2.75 cumulative GPA and fewer than three years of professional work experience or military service, excluding internships and work performed while studying.
- Ability to work in a 24x7 environment, including nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call shifts, while performing outdoor and field duties in extreme weather.
- Reliable transportation, ability to climb ladders and navigate uneven surfaces, and capacity to work around noise, fumes, and heavy or moving machinery.

- Internship or work experience in engineering, business, construction, or a related field.
