Software Systems Engineer (Luxury Audio)

Location: Cambridge, United Kingdom; office-based role. Willingness to travel up to 10% domestically and internationally is required, along with flexibility in working hours.

What you will do

• Oversee multiple embedded audio software projects from concept through production and coordinate delivery timelines with project managers.
• Define, document, and review software requirements and development plans with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to deliver products, features, bug fixes, companion apps, and software tools.
• Lead systems design reviews and prepare project reports and technical documentation.
• Support hands-on development, troubleshooting, coaching, and continuous improvement of audio system design.
• Ensure designs meet demanding quality, compliance, and performance standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in software engineering or equivalent related technical experience.
• At least 10 years of experience developing high-performance consumer audio systems at the system level.
• Strong experience with C and C++, embedded systems, Bare Metal/RTOS development, and protocols including RS-232, I2C, SPI, and USB.
• Experience with embedded software project management, Jira, Git, CI/CD, and commercial software delivery.
• Ability to debug with oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, emulators, and simulators.
• Knowledge of high-resolution audio formats, streaming technologies, audio compression, and strong communication skills.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in a relevant subject.
• Practical experience with Linux boot, kernel, and ALSA.
• Knowledge of Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, TCP/IP, Flutter, and audio A/D and D/A converters.
• Experience creating and debugging automated test procedures and using audio measurement techniques.
