Engineering (Track and Structures) Summer Intern 2027 (Railway Engineering)

Location: Alliance, NE; Amarillo, TX; Chicago, IL; Denver, CO; El Paso, TX; Everett, WA; Flagstaff, AZ; Galesburg, IL; Great Falls, MT; Haslet, TX; Houston, TX; Kansas City, KS; Lincoln, NE; Memphis, TN; Missoula, MT; Quincy, IL; Springfield, MO; or Tulsa, OK. Travel and relocation anywhere on the hirify.global operating system in the western 28 states are required for the summer, with travel up to 75%. Training begins in Fort Worth, Texas.

Salary: $5,250 per month.

What you will do

• Inspect, maintain, repair, construct, and expand railway track infrastructure, including rails, ties, and ballast.
• Administer, supervise, coordinate, and inspect the maintenance, construction, and operation of bridges and other structures.
• Plan and schedule maintenance and repair work and verify the quality of completed work.
• Coordinate with departments, project stakeholders, and public or utility project partners.
• Manage project schedules, finances, safety, and communication across assigned engineering projects.
• Work in field environments and shadow engineering leadership roles, including Roadmaster, Division Engineer, and Manager of Structures.

Requirements

• Legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship, including H-1B, STEM OPT/CPT, or TN sponsorship.
• At least 18 years old upon hire and able to work in a 24/7 environment, including nights, weekends, holidays, overtime, and on-call shifts.
• Pursuing a bachelor's or graduate degree in engineering, construction management, business, or a similar field at an accredited university.
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 and less than three years of professional work experience or military service, excluding internships and work completed while studying.
• Willing and able to relocate anywhere on the hirify.global operating system and travel up to 75% of the time; reliable transportation is required.
• Able to work safely outdoors and in shops, terminals, or field environments, including climbing ladders and navigating uneven surfaces in extreme weather, noise, fumes, and around heavy machinery.

Nice to have

• Internship or limited work experience in engineering, supply chain, business, construction, logistics, or a related field.
• Leadership experience in a campus, community, or extracurricular organization.
