Operational Accountant - Portuguese Speaker (m/f/d)

Location: Hybrid work model; the accounting hub is based in Sofia. The role covers Western Europe, including France, Benelux, and Iberia.

What you will do

• Oversee accounting and financial operations for the Western Europe region in collaboration with the Sofia-based accounting hub.
• Manage timely and accurate month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closings, including balance sheet reviews and reconciliations.
• Prepare and review financial statements under local GAAP and IFRS, including IFRS mappings and adjustments.
• Coordinate with auditors, headquarters, external tax advisors, FP&A, Billing, operational teams, and local stakeholders.
• Coordinate corporate tax, VAT, and other local tax compliance activities.
• Support the harmonization, improvement, and automation of finance and tax processes across Europe.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience in an accounting firm in audit, accounting, or advisory.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial statements, and complex business and financial flows.
• Professional fluency in English and Portuguese-speaking capability required for the role.
• Proficiency in Excel and strong analytical and attention-to-detail skills.
• Ability to balance group standards with local accounting and tax requirements.

Nice to have

• Experience in multinational environments or with IFRS.
• Knowledge of Portuguese or French GAAP and local accounting and tax regulations.
• Knowledge of French.
