Senior CNO Developer (Wireless Systems) (Cybersecurity, Embedded and Telecommunications Systems): Building custom cyber capability tools for embedded and telecommunications systems with an accent on reverse engineering, vulnerability research, firmware analysis, and wireless protocol analysis. Focus on developing exploit-driven proofs of concept into robust operational software, tracing execution in complex systems, and solving ambiguous security challenges across Linux-based and embedded platforms.

Location: Full-time, in-office position in Arlington, Virginia, United States

Salary: $143,763–$215,644 USD annually

What you will do

  • Design and develop custom software tools targeting embedded and telecommunications systems.
  • Develop proofs of concept from discovered vulnerabilities and transition them into robust, maintainable codebases using DevOps practices.
  • Analyze firmware, operating system internals, software protections, binaries, and wireless protocols to identify exploitable security flaws.
  • Conduct reverse engineering and vulnerability research on Linux-based and embedded systems.
  • Develop capabilities leveraging novel telecommunications access mechanisms and collaborate with developers, vulnerability researchers, hardware engineers, and mission stakeholders.
  • Extend custom tools for software and firmware binary analysis and manipulation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience designing or prototyping applications with agile software development processes.
  • At least 2 years of experience with Python, C, or C++, operating system internals, network socket programming, and packet-level understanding of IP and TCP protocols.
  • At least 2 years of experience reverse engineering x86/ARM binaries or embedded systems and tracing code execution with WinDbg, GDB, or an equivalent debugger.
  • Expertise in at least one area such as firmware analysis, fuzzing and exploit development, wireless protocol analysis with Wireshark, file system forensics, fault injection, Binary Ninja, or Ghidra.
  • Active U.S. Top Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain SCI access is required.

Nice to have

  • Experience with vulnerability analysis, memory protection mechanisms, memory management, CI/CD pipelines, virtualized test ranges, or firmware and driver development.
  • Experience with telecommunications systems, protocol analysis, access mechanisms, infrastructure components, or 5G.
  • Graduate degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field.
