Location: Twickenham Platinum Mine, Polokwane, South Africa; onsite field work required

What you will do

• Conduct environmental inspections, internal audits, and field verification of license, permit, and critical-control compliance.
• Report and investigate environmental incidents and hazards, and support corrective actions and improvement plans.
• Assist with environmental impact assessments, sampling, monitoring-data interpretation, and environmental awareness training.
• Support implementation and maintenance of the site Environmental Management System and environmental risk models.
• Capture environmental compliance data and maintain records of material environmental risks.
• Oversee the day-to-day work of Environmental Assistants and Environmental Interns.

Requirements

• Diploma or degree in Environmental Science or a related field.
• At least 3 years of experience in a mining-related field.
• Knowledge of operational processes, environmental compliance, safety, health, legislation, permitting, and regulatory requirements.
• Experience with risk management techniques, critical controls, and incident investigations.
• Ability to engage with project stakeholders, permanent personnel, and contractors on environmental matters.
• Basic knowledge of financial metrics, cost and value management, and budgeting tools.

Nice to have

• Completed short courses in environmental law, ISO 14001, or auditing.
