Frontend Software Engineer (React)

Location: Remote in the United Kingdom; cities listed are London and Hursley. Some travel may be required based on business demand.

What you will do

• Build and maintain core UI infrastructure for Confluent Cloud using TypeScript and React.
• Contribute to the design system and develop tooling that improves frontend developer productivity.
• Monitor and optimize UI performance and participate in frontend architecture decisions.
• Integrate client-side applications with REST and GraphQL APIs.
• Write unit tests with Jest and maintain end-to-end test suites with Playwright.
• Support daily production deployments using feature flags, commit-level environments, automation tools, and dependency-management bots.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree required; a Master’s degree is preferred.
• Professional experience building web applications.
• Knowledge of modern JavaScript or TypeScript, HTML5, CSS, algorithms, and application design.
• Hands-on experience with React or an equivalent modern framework, Jest, and Playwright or similar end-to-end testing tools.
• Familiarity with frontend build tools such as Webpack, Rspack, Babel, NPM, or Yarn.
• Experience with responsive client-side applications for complex data environments and continuous integration and deployment workflows.

Nice to have

• Experience or familiarity with Terraform for Infrastructure as Code.
