Junior Industrial IT Systems Engineer (MedTech)

Location: Gent, East Flanders, Belgium; onsite role

What you will do

• Own assigned Industrial IT applications and maintain stable, reliable, secure, and compliant operations.
• Diagnose system issues, implement performance and availability improvements, and manage configuration, monitoring, documentation, and user access.
• Coordinate upgrades, integrations, deployments, and vendor activities with IT and engineering stakeholders.
• Plan and execute commissioning, testing, validation, and operational readiness activities for new or updated systems.
• Participate in deviations, CAPAs, investigations, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Join a rotating weekend on-call service and communicate system health, risks, decisions, and project progress.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Industrial Automation, Electromechanics, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science with an Industrial IT focus.
• Understanding of Industrial IT, industrial automation, or related systems through education, internships, a thesis, or technical projects; professional experience is not required.
• Solid network fundamentals, including TCP/IP, VLANs, routing, segmentation, and firewalls.
• Ability to use or quickly develop proficiency in scripting languages such as PowerShell or Python.
• Excellent spoken and written English is required.
• Structured problem-solving, ownership, collaboration, clear communication, and a strong focus on quality and safety.

Nice to have

• Pharmaceutical industry knowledge, including GxP, GAMP, and qualification.
• Experience with particle monitoring platforms, ideally LMS Pharma (SE Geoscada).
• Knowledge of Windows Server applications, AVEVA PI or similar data historians, Active Directory, backup and recovery solutions, or Industrial IT monitoring tools such as PRTG.
• Awareness of Industrial IT cybersecurity principles, including NIS2, ISA-95, and the Purdue Model.
• Strong Dutch proficiency at C1 level.
