Lead Scientist, Purification Development (Protein Purification)

What you will do

• Lead process development, process characterization, and viral clearance activities, including study planning, technical supervision, and interpretation of results.
• Conduct risk assessments, scale-down model qualification, Design of Experiments, resin lifetime studies, and regulatory submission support.
• Lead purification activities using affinity, mixed-mode, and ion-exchange chromatography with ÄKTA/UNICORN systems, as well as UF/DF and viral reduction studies.
• Train and mentor junior scientists and new hires in purification technologies and laboratory techniques.
• Prepare and review protocols, reports, SOPs, and technical documentation while supporting manufacturing, troubleshooting, and technology transfer.
• Represent projects in internal and external customer communications and coordinate multiple projects for timely delivery.

Requirements

• Degree or PhD in Life Sciences or a related field with relevant industry experience.
• 4–7 years of experience in protein purification or process development; PhD candidates with 2–5 years of experience may be considered.
• Strong expertise in protein purification and process characterization.
• Experience with statistical software such as JMP for DoE data analysis is highly advantageous.
• Understanding of cGMP and BLA requirements, with strong technical writing, communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively across projects and provide scientific leadership.
