Senior Software Engineer (Media Tech Support)

Location: Remote across LATAM. Hiring in Mexico and Costa Rica for full-time employment, in Brazil for full-time employment or contracting, and in other LATAM locations for contracting only.

Pay rate: USD 25.00, negotiable

What you will do

• Support file-based workflows and respond to internal user and support-team requests.
• Investigate issues involving transcoding, autoQC, content delivery, software, cloud computing, storage, and networking.
• Collaborate with engineering and Paramount teams to identify issues, validate solutions, and maintain customer satisfaction.
• Maintain documentation, escalation paths, and runbooks based on root-cause analyses.
• Operate and maintain media encoding and transcoding platforms for quality, performance, and reliability.

Requirements

• Strong understanding of video, audio, and timed text used in content supply chains.
• Knowledge of Linux and Windows Server operating systems; a relevant bachelor's degree is preferred.
• Experience processing support requests and collaborating with software development or engineering teams in a customer-service-oriented environment.
• Ability to manipulate audio, video, and subtitles through APIs, JSON, XML, and command-line tools to automate transcoding or subtitle processing.
• Knowledge of media containers, video and audio codecs, frame rates, scan types, resolutions, and color spaces.
• Experience operating and testing software in AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure environments, including serverless, Linux, or Windows instances.

Nice to have

• Experience with cloud-based transcoding, cloud storage, public/private/hybrid cloud integration, AWS Well-Architected Frameworks, and shared storage.
• Experience with audio manipulation, subtitle and caption format conversion, IMF, Dolby Vision, or Dolby Atmos.
• Working knowledge of Perl, Ruby, Python, PowerShell, API protocols, and media production software such as Apple Pro Apps, Avid, or Adobe.
• Experience with Agile Scrum and global teams, plus at least three years of direct professional industry experience.
