TL;DR
Data Engineer (AI) (Databricks/SQL/Python): Building and improving reliable production data pipelines and a trusted self-service data platform with an accent on data quality, observability, governance, and automation. Focus on designing end-to-end integrations, diagnosing root-cause issues, enabling self-service analytics, and applying agentic AI tooling to data engineering workflows.
Location: Brisbane, Australia preferred; hybrid and flexible working arrangements. Strong candidates elsewhere in Australia will also be considered.

What you will do
- Design, build, and improve production data pipelines, ensuring reliable and timely data delivery.
- Implement data validation, reconciliation, testing, monitoring, alerting, and lineage.
- Improve data platform governance, documentation, and observability to support rapid issue diagnosis.
- Enable analysts and product teams to work independently through self-service access, tooling, and documentation.
- Use agentic development tools, including Claude, to build, troubleshoot, and improve data solutions.
- Collaborate with product engineers, delivery teams, data specialists, architecture, security, and platform functions.
Requirements
- 3–5+ years of experience in Data Engineering or a related software engineering role with significant data responsibility.
- Strong SQL and Python skills, including production data pipeline development and support.
- Hands-on production experience with Databricks.
- Experience delivering end-to-end data integrations from source systems to reporting or analytics platforms.
- Knowledge of data quality, testing, validation, and reconciliation practices.
- Experience with GitHub, CI/CD pipelines, version-controlled development, automated testing, observability tooling, and AI-assisted development tools.
Nice to have
- Experience with Ruby on Rails, TypeScript, Node, React, or PostgreSQL.
