TL;DR
Technical Lead - Data Platform & Engineering (Snowflake/dbt/Python/AWS): Providing architectural direction for scalable data platforms, evolving engineering standards, and guiding platform modernisation with an accent on cross-domain architecture, data governance, and technical discovery. Focus on solving ambiguous high-impact problems, mentoring engineers, and evaluating AI-augmented engineering tools for adoption.
Location: Melbourne, Australia; hybrid working. Successful candidates must have full-time Australian working rights and complete a National Police Record check.

operates an online vehicle marketplace and is developing data capabilities to improve buying, selling, and customer experiences.
What you will do
- Provide architectural direction across the Data Platform Engineering function and ensure consistency across platform domains.
- Partner with product and engineering leadership to shape technical strategy and roadmaps.
- Set and evolve standards for code quality, testing, CI/CD, security, and data governance.
- Provide technical oversight for data democratisation and platform modernisation initiatives.
- Mentor Senior and Mid-level engineers and represent the function in cross-functional architecture forums.
- Resolve ambiguous, high-impact technical problems and evaluate emerging tools, including AI-augmented engineering solutions.
Requirements
- Senior Data Engineer experience or above, including end-to-end ownership of significant platform domains.
- Deep expertise across Snowflake, dbt Cloud, Python, RabbitMQ, Postgres, and AWS.
- Experience driving architectural decisions adopted beyond an immediate team or domain.
- Experience running structured technical discovery and communicating outcomes to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong stakeholder management, collaboration, communication, and mentoring skills.
- Full-time Australian working rights and successful completion of a National Police Record check.
