TL;DR

Senior Data Engineer (Property Data Platforms): Designing and operating property-centric data pipelines, models, and APIs for high-impact data products with an accent on scalable data engineering, platform reliability, and property data quality. Focus on shaping data architecture, resolving production and performance issues, and mentoring engineers while working with Airflow, BigQuery, Kafka, Python, and TypeScript/Node.

Location: Hybrid role based in Richmond, Melbourne VIC, Australia

What you will do

Design, build, and maintain data pipelines, models, and APIs across ingestion, transformation, and consumption layers.
Contribute to technical design and architecture decisions for property datasets, data platforms, and APIs.
Use Airflow/Breeze, BigQuery, Kafka, TypeScript/Node, and Python to deliver reliable property data.
Improve data quality, system performance, scalability, monitoring, observability, automation, and operational practices.
Support production systems and ensure reliability, security, and resilience under a “you build it, you run it” operating model.
Collaborate with engineers, analysts, and product managers while providing technical guidance and mentoring to other engineers.

Requirements

5+ years of industry experience in data engineering and full-stack software engineering, focused on data-intensive systems at scale.
Strong experience owning, building, and integrating APIs.
Strong programming skills in at least one modern language, such as TypeScript/Node.js or Python, plus strong SQL skills.
Experience building data pipelines and models with Airflow/Breeze, BigQuery, or equivalent orchestration and warehouse technologies.
Knowledge of data modelling, data quality, data governance, cloud platforms, Docker, CI/CD, and infrastructure as code.
Ability to diagnose data quality issues, performance problems, and production incidents in distributed data systems.

Nice to have

Platform engineering experience.
Experience with GCP and/or AWS, Terraform, CDK, or CloudFormation.
Experience with code pairing and code reviews.
