TL;DR
Cyber Security Vulnerability Researcher, Advanced (Security Engineering, Associate) (Cybersecurity/Python): Conducting vulnerability research, risk assessments, and security analysis for Naval Aviation Red Team operations with an accent on adversarial techniques, reverse engineering, and system security. Focus on developing offensive and defensive tools, analyzing applications and infrastructure, and identifying vulnerabilities in aviation-based platforms and support systems.

Location: On-site in Lexington Park, Maryland, at Naval Air Station Patuxent River; travel to other sites may be required up to 10% of the time. The position is eligible for a Compressed Work Schedule.

Salary: $115,000–$220,000 per year.

What you will do

  • Conduct research into cyber threats, vulnerabilities, adversarial techniques, and mitigation solutions.
  • Develop offensive and defensive cybersecurity tools and solutions using computer hardware and software security expertise.
  • Perform technical and operational risk and vulnerability assessments across computing environments, networks, infrastructure, applications, and enclave boundaries.
  • Analyze new and existing applications and utility programs, delivering actionable security findings.
  • Perform threat, vulnerability, and probability-of-occurrence analysis after major application or system changes.
  • Support Naval Aviation Red Team missions and identify vulnerabilities in operational program development and implementation.

Requirements

  • At least 7 years of relevant experience and a bachelor’s degree in information technology, cybersecurity, computer science, information systems, data science, software engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience programming in Python and using Ghidra and reverse engineering tools such as IDA Pro.
  • Current Top Secret clearance with the ability to obtain SCI is required.
  • Must obtain qualifications aligned with one or more specified DoD Cyber Workforce Framework roles within 60 days of contract performance start.
  • Ability to communicate with clients and project or task sponsors and work effectively in fast-paced, diverse, high-performance teams.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of adversarial threat representation tactics, techniques, and procedures.
  • Experience with naval aviation acquisition programs and reverse engineering aviation-based platforms and support systems.
  • Microsoft or Linux operating system certification.
  • Working experience with Assembly Language.
  • A related master’s degree or advanced certifications.
