Principal Cybersecurity Researcher (Reverse Engineering/Vulnerability Research): Leading reverse engineering and vulnerability research projects for national security customers with an accent on low-level programming, binary analysis, and custom fuzzing. Focus on identifying vulnerabilities, developing proof-of-concept exploits, solving complex technical challenges, and mentoring cybersecurity researchers.

Location: Onsite in Arlington, Virginia, United States

Salary: $180,779–$289,014 annualized

What you will do

  • Lead the technical planning and execution of reverse engineering and vulnerability research projects.
  • Coordinate tasks, deliverables, and alignment with customer objectives.
  • Solve complex technical challenges and provide technical guidance, mentorship, and training.
  • Write technical documentation, vulnerability findings, proposal sections, and white papers.
  • Develop differentiated technical approaches to support customer satisfaction and business development.
  • Work in client-facing technical engagements with internal teams, stakeholders, and external audiences.

Requirements

  • Advanced cybersecurity research expertise.
  • Expert-level proficiency in at least two areas including low-level programming with C/C++ or Assembly, disassemblers and decompilers, binary re-hosting, and custom greybox or blackbox fuzzing harnesses.
  • Proven vulnerability research experience, including attack surface triage, vulnerability identification, and proof-of-concept exploit development.
  • Experience leading complex reverse engineering, vulnerability research, or R&D projects for National Security customers.
  • Extensive experience mentoring and training technical staff and communicating complex cybersecurity concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Active Top Secret clearance and willingness to obtain and maintain an SCI clearance required.

Nice to have

  • Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Experience leading technical sections of multi-million-dollar proposals or contributing white papers for business capture.
  • Embedded systems reverse engineering experience with ARM/MIPS, RTOS, or bare-metal environments.
  • Experience with cryptographic design principles, custom fuzzing harnesses, binary re-hosting, or accelerated reverse engineering and vulnerability research tooling.
  • Participation in the external technical community through presentations, panels, or professional associations.
