What you will do
- Design and deliver production-ready mechanical test fixtures for NEO and its critical subsystems.
- Own fixture development from test objectives and initial concepts through CAD, drawings, fabrication, assembly, installation, and iteration.
- Create complete design packages covering 3D CAD, 2D drawings, materials, tolerances, hardware, interfaces, and assembly requirements.
- Work with internal fabrication teams and external vendors on DFM issues, quotes, lead times, and manufacturing handoff.
- Assemble, fit-check, install, and bring up fixtures in the laboratory and test cells.
- Collaborate with Test, Design, Manufacturing, and external vendors to resolve mechanical and testing challenges.
Requirements
- Bachelorβs degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
- 2β4 years of experience designing mechanical test fixtures, assembly fixtures, tooling, or similar custom hardware.
- Strong 3D CAD and 2D engineering drawing skills for machined, fabricated, or rapidly prototyped parts and assemblies.
- Experience working with internal machine shops or external manufacturing vendors to produce physical hardware.
- Practical understanding of mechanical testing, including loads, load paths, fixturing, interfaces, and safe test setup.
Nice to have
- Fixture design experience in robotics, electromechanical systems, automotive, aerospace, consumer hardware, or other complex physical products.
- Experience using hand calculations or FEA to evaluate strength, stiffness, deflection, or dynamic behavior.
- Hands-on laboratory experience assembling and bringing up test fixtures.
- Experience integrating sensors, actuators, wiring, or instrumentation into mechanical test fixtures.
- Experience with vibration, mechanical actuation, thermal, or environmental testing.
