TL;DR
Senior Principal Software Engineer (Embedded Medical Devices): Architecting, designing, building, testing, and scaling embedded software for next-generation energy-based medical devices with an accent on software architecture, technical leadership, and regulatory compliance. Focus on optimizing performance and reliability, leading risk assessment and requirements development, and integrating software with hardware, systems, quality, and verification teams.

Location: Hybrid in Mounds View, Minnesota, United States; on-site 4 days per week. Less than 10% travel is required.

Salary: $178,400–$267,600 USD annually, plus eligibility for the hirify.global Incentive Plan.

What you will do

  • Architect, design, develop, test, maintain, and scale embedded software for next-generation renal denervation medical devices.
  • Define architectural standards, design patterns, APIs, data models, and integration approaches.
  • Make technical decisions aligned with long-term platform and business strategy.
  • Optimize system performance, reliability, scalability, security, privacy, and compliance.
  • Lead risk assessment and requirements development activities.
  • Collaborate with hardware, systems, integration, testing, quality, and system verification and validation teams.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of technical leadership experience, or an advanced technical degree with at least 8 years of work experience.
  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in computer engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Experience developing medical device software.
  • Strong expertise in C++, Python, and C#.
  • Experience with Linux, PetaLinux, Yocto, FreeRTOS, and containers.
  • Strong knowledge of secure SDLC practices and software risk management.

Nice to have

  • Knowledge of microservices architecture and event-driven systems.
  • Familiarity with FPGA, cloud technologies, and connected medical devices.
  • Experience in regulated or enterprise-scale environments.
  • Strong collaboration and communication across engineering, quality, regulatory, technical, and non-technical teams.
