Systems Security Research Engineer (Cybersecurity)

Location: Bristol, United Kingdom; office-based in Bristol city centre

What you will do

• Develop new security designs and architectures for endpoint devices and distributed systems.
• Co-design hardware and firmware for cyber resilience and enhanced supply chain security.
• Build prototypes to demonstrate feasibility and reduce technical risk.
• Design security across cloud, edge, and endpoint environments at cloud scale.
• Write invention disclosures, technical reports, and research papers.
• Validate concepts and use cases with end users, business partners, and R&D teams.

Requirements

• Doctoral, Master’s, or potentially Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, plus industrial experience with demonstrated achievements.
• Experience with computer systems, hardware, and firmware technologies including x86, ARM, UEFI, PCIe, and DMA.
• Strong engineering skills in programming, software, architecture, and design.
• Experience with endpoint security architectures and concepts such as access control, zero trust, antimalware, hardware isolation, and virtualization.
• Ability to communicate technical knowledge to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Commercial awareness and the ability to connect security work with company strategy.

Nice to have

• Understanding of distributed systems and cloud platforms.
• Experience with security architecture and threat modeling from device level to large distributed systems.
• Knowledge of supply chain security, device lifecycle concepts, and enterprise device and network management.
