Location: Kansas City, MO, USA; requires working Monday–Friday in a school or office environment, movement across school and office sites, in-person regional meetings, and travel to the work location.

Salary: $62,000–$72,000 per year, based on experience, education, and expertise.

KIPP Kansas City Public Schools is a network of free, open-enrollment, college-preparatory charter schools serving approximately 1,000 students from Pre-K through 12th grade.

What you will do

  • Lead the strategic vision, daily operations, security, and scalability of district technology infrastructure.
  • Oversee local and wide area networks, Wi-Fi, cloud environments, physical and virtual servers, IAM, and SSO.
  • Manage the lifecycle of district hardware, including Chromebooks, iPads, laptops, and staff workstations.
  • Architect and enforce cybersecurity controls such as firewalls, endpoint protection, MFA, and student data privacy compliance.
  • Maintain and test disaster recovery and business continuity plans, including immutable backups.
  • Lead Help Desk operations, KPIs, SLAs, budgets, vendor contracts, E-Rate funding, technology communications, and multi-site deployments.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • 5–7 years of progressive IT experience, including at least 3 years in a supervisory or management capacity.
  • Strong knowledge of educational technology, including SIS and LMS integrations.
  • Experience executing large-scale, multi-site hardware deployments or network refreshes and managing multiple high-stakes projects.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to school boards, principals, teachers, parents, and diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to work at the Kansas City school or office location, attend in-person regional meetings, and travel to the work location.

Nice to have

  • Experience in a K-12 public school district or higher education setting.
  • CISSP, CCNA, CCNP, CompTIA Security+, Microsoft Certified Professional, or Google Professional Workspace Administrator certification.
